2016 James Berry Vineyard - Library
After a Vicinage Series hiatus in 2015, we are excited to once again be offering the “James Berry Vineyard” designate for the 2016 vintage. This magnificent vineyard in the heart of the Willow Creek District of west Paso Robles is a perfect combination of nature and nurture. Mother Nature created this amazing combination of climate, soil and topography and fate entrusted it to consummate stewards of the land in the Smith family that have nurtured it into the paragon it has become. For the 2016 vintage, Grenache from a warmer west facing hillside and Syrah from a cooler easterly aspect were co-fermented with native yeast creating a wine with a stunning array of complex aromatics and remarkable palate presence. Aged for 22 months in French oak 400L and 300L barrels and an additional 12 months in bottle, this is a special wine that walks effortlessly the line between power and grace. While tempting now, you will no doubt be rewarded with a few additional years in the cellar.
